Description
At the designated time, we'll meet at Praça Marquês de Pombal, where we'll climb aboard the minibus and begin our journey towards Fátima. After a journey of about 1 hour and 20 minutes, we'll reach the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, one of the most famous pilgrimage destinations in the world. Our first stop will be the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Here, we'll find the remarkable funerary monuments of the three shepherd children who, in 1917, claimed to have had divine encounters with the Virgin Mary in this very place. We'll also explore the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity as well as the Chapel of the Apparitions, where the pedestal marks the very spot where the Virgin Mary appeared to the three young shepherds. It's from this sacred place that the mesmerizing Candlelight Procession commences. During this procession, the original statue of the Virgin of Fátima is paraded, accompanied by the recitation of the Rosary. During this solemn moment, the devoted pilgrims who are gathered in the sanctuary square will silently follow the Virgin with lit candles as her effigy traverses the esplanade, eventually returning to the chapel. The glow from hundreds of candles, coupled with the recitation of the Rosary in the darkness of night, creates a deeply moving and powerful atmosphere. After the procession, we'll make our way back to Lisbon, arriving at the starting point 5 hours after pickup. We can also take you directly to your hotel in Lisbon if you wish. This optional transfer has a cost of € 5 per person, to be paid directly on the day of the tour. Important: If it rains, the candlelight procession may not take placeIncludes
